I drink about a gallon of water daily, could this be helpful?


Drinking plenty of fluids is

Drinking plenty of fluids is always good, unless you have congestive heart failure or another condition in which fluids are sometimes restricted.

As far as whether water is specifically recommended for fibromyalgia, I have not come across any sources that make recommendations regarding drinking a ton of water. On the other hand, dehydration can make you feel weak and tired, as well as disturb your electrolyte balance if the dehydration is severe.

Here are some common sense rules for water drinking:

drink to thirst- if you are thirsty, drink! If you are not really thirsty, don't force it. Aim for an average of 8 cups of fluid a day (even this may be too much for some people, or not enough for others)

If you are exercising, you should be drinking a little more.

watch urine output- if your urine is light yellow and is not dark or concentrated, you are getting enough fluids. If you need to urinate every hour, you may be overdoing the water!

So, to conclude, there are no hard and fast rules for water drinking. Bottom line: listen to your body- it knows what it needs.
